Cornea is the transparent layer in the front of the eye ball. It is a dome- shapedsurface which accounts for two third of the refractive power of an eye. Any disease affecting the cornea makes it lose its transparency. This affects the vision of the eye making it cloudy or blur.
Common Cornea Conditions
Corneal abrasion — an injury or scratch on the corneal surface of the eye which causes a loss of superficial tissue
Dry eye — this condition is caused due to deficiency in production of tears. It often produces a sensation of foreign body, or burning and itchy feeling in the eye.
Keratoconus — a corneal disease which affects vision and is hereditary.Thinning and cone-shaping of the central cornea is mainly observed in this disease.
Fuchs' dystrophy — a corneal disorder causing cloudy, waterlogged cornea resulting in reduced vision.
