Eye Make Up & Eye Health
Eyes are sensitive and delicate. Extra care needs to be taken while applying eye make-up to ensure that it does not irritate the eyes. If any foreign body gets into your eye, which includes a particle of your make-up, it can cause swelling and at times infection. Serious eye infection can at times, lead to blindness.
A few simple rules you need to understand while applying eye make up.
- Use only those cosmetics which are certified for use in the eyes. Don’t use any other products like paints etc. for colouring your eye-brows.
- Wash your hands before applying eye make-up.
- Look for expiry dates. Don’t use old products. Usually liquid or gel eye liners should be replaced every 3 months.
- Don’t share eye make up products.
- Do your make-up with a steady hand and in a well-lit room. Don’t do it in a moving car.
- When applying mascara, do it in a direction away from the eyes.
- Don’t use saliva to moisten dried make-up.
- Always clean the make-up before going to bed. Use a cotton swab to remove the make-up gently.
